More 1966 Batman Toy News And Pictures

With this weekend's exciting news that our stores and collections will be flooded with 1966 Batman toys from Mattel, even more pictures have been released and it seems that Mattel won't be the only company releasing 1966 Batman related goodies. Plus, more pictures have been released of the Mattel toys from 2013 Toy Fair, which was held here in NYC. Every year I wish I could be lucky enough to attend. I guess I'm lucky I wasn't in attendance. I would have been arrested for trying to walk off with everything. 

I stress that these are not photo's I have taken. I have found these photos online (Google rules). If any of them are yours, I would be more than happy to give you the credit you deserve for taking these awesome pictures.

First the Mattel toys

Here is the box that Batman and Robin will come in. I'm an opener, but with a box like this, it makes it hard for me to want to open. it. Love that it has them walking up the side of the building. Wonder if there will be an opening for you to stick a figure out of the window, like when a special, unannounced guest star would in the show. By the way, Robin is only available in this box set.

 

Speak of the devil. "Holy Diablo, Batman!"

This cracked me up when I saw it. Yes, I have to have this too. I'm wondering if this is part of a 2 pack with The Joker in bathing suit. 

In case you were wondering, The Joker figure will indeed have Cesar Romero's mustache under the make up like in the TV Series. 

Oh, The Batmobile I showed the other day is exclusive to Toys R Us.

I posted this on my Facebook page. Yes, I realize they are Ken and Barbie dressed as Batman and Catwoman, circa 1966, but I don't care. I want them! I have the Barbie Batgirl figure already, (yeah, I said it. I own a Barbie), so these will fit right in with her. 

Looks like NECA will be releasing mini Batman figures. Here is a pic of the Batmobile that will accompany it. Sweet!

I love Funko Pop figures. I have a couple in my collection. Unfortunately, none of them are of the Batman. While I had planned on changing that this year, it looks like I will be adding some more Pop Figures to the want list. Check out the 1966 Batman line. What I am really drooling over is the Batman/Batmobile Pop. Pretty sneaky Funko for sneaking these beauties on me. 

There will also be Ensemble model kits made available from Moebius Models. There will be 6 models on Batcave rocks. When all are assembled will form the Bat Symbol. 

I will probably pass up on these for 2 reasons. I am not very good at assembling model kits and I want to pick up the other stuff more. Especially these other NECA 

An 18" Batman figure. From what I read, this will have interchangeable hands and, most importantly, will be UNDER 100.00. Yeah, I will be buying this one. Sorry Hot Toys. I believe there is a toy site that already has this for pre-order. 

Here's a close up of the face. Pretty good likeness on it. I haven't seen the Hot Toys Adam West yet, but I'm more than OK with this figure for my Bat-collection. 

NECA will also be releasing a Michael Keaton 1989 Batman as well. Not sure if this one will be under 100.00 as well. If it is, I will be grabbing it. I can't afford the Hot Toys version, so this will be a more than suitable option.

Guys, I've got to say, I haven't been this geeked out in a long time. I cannot wait until this stuff is released. I'm hoping it will be trickled out over the course of the year so that I won't put myself in the poor house trying to pick up all of this stuff...more so than I already am. I told John from the Batcave Toy Room on Facebook so much for concentrating on vintage alone this year. He told me that it took 47 years to get the licensing for this stuff. It is vintage!

My Visit To Toy Tokyo

Today I decided to take a quick visit to Toy Tokyo, which is located in lower Manhattan. I had heard of this store and wanted to take a peek at all the toy goodness inside. With the name Toy Tokyo, I expected the store to be mainly toys imported from Japan. Although there were japanese toys, there was a lot of american toys being sold as well. Toys that made this sexy geek wish he had buku money to spend. Problem is, if your looking for bargins, Toy Tokyo is not the place for bargins. The owners know what they have. Most of the toys were being sold at retail or above, especially the vintage goodies.

As soon as you walk in, there is a display case of vintage toys.

Vintage Green Hornet anyone?

After fogging the glass on this case, I moved on to the bigger cases in the back that housed more stuff. From vintage toys to not so vintage. Japanese to American. All I know is I was staring way too long. So long that I noticed an employee eyeballing me to make sure I wasn't looking for a five finger discount. Not that the thought would come to mind. I'm a good boy.

You know I was peeping at that vintage Star Wars X Wing Fighter japanese import model kit. Would look great in the growing Luke Skywalker collection.

As you can see, Toy Tokyo has a little bit of anything for every collector out there. There was a bunch of other stuff I didn't post pics of, but I assure you that no matter what you collect, you will come away from this place drooling. Haulin From This Past Weekend

Haven't been able to post up a blog this week as work has been hetic lately. My company is a black hole and likes to suck up smaller companies so when it consumes a company, that's more work for us little people. My main function is to process expense reports and cut the checks for the employee. We now have 5 companies, so that's 5 diffrent sets of checks I have to cut. Takes a lot of time going through the reports and going after the employees that are missing reciepts and whatnot. But, I am happy to say I am finally all caught up with the checks.

This past Saturday, My buddy and I went up to Poughkepsie, NY just to get out of the NYC area. Poughkepsie has some nice stores I don't have near me like a Dragon's Den comic shop and a Big Lots as well as the usual Toys R Us, Target and Wal-Mart stores. Nothing really intrested me and the stuff that did was too pricey for my liking. I wasn't willing to pay 15.99 for a Marvel Legends Iron Man figure, although I probably will sooner than later cause I do want it, as well as the new 8 inch Avengers figures. I had Iron Man, Captain America and Thor in my grubby mitts, but at 12.99 per, I put those back as well.

We went into a Salvation Army before lunch. There was the usual video tapes and crappy toys and books I could find around my area. I normally skip by the glasses and dishes, but for some reason decided to take a peek. To my shock, I found 2 glasses I was keeping an eye on ebay right on the shelves in great condidtion. Naturally, I scooped them up.

I've been picking up a couple of vintage New York Jets items as of late and was eyeballing this glass on ebay. I love coke glasses, so I really wanted this one featuring the old green helmet. I've been seening them on ebay for anywhere from 7.00 to 20.00 with about 5.99 shipping. I paid 2 bucks at the thrift store.

This one was a complete shock to find. It was hidden in the middle of a bunch of glasses, but I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. I remember these Burger King glasses from when I was a kid and never owned one. Burger King released glasses from all 3 movies. I have been wanting a few since I decided to start a Star Wars collection of just New Hope, Empire and Return. I was looking at a few of these not too long ago on ebay and the prices were similar to the prices I saw for the Jets; anywhere from 7.00 to 20.00 with 5.99 shipping. And like the Jets glass, I paid 2 bucks for it. Plus it's of my favorite Star Wars character, Luke Skywalker.

I picked up this Jets puzzle for a buck at the Dollar Tree that was right next door to the thrift shop.

There isn't a Hobby Lobby in the NYC area. We only have Michaels. There maybe an AC Moore somewhere around in Jersey or Long Island, but I never been in a Hobby Lobby before. Not much diffrent from Michaels. The only aisle we were concerned with was the model kit aisle. Not that I can put together a model, cause I can't. And painting might as well be rocket science to me. If I buy a model kit, I usually keep it in the box and on the shelf, like I have with the Aurora Spider-Man reissue kit or my Monkees Mobile. This model is one I will put together

I have been looking for this snap kit of the 1966 Batmobile for sometime. As you might have gathered from my previous post, I'm a huge fan of the 1966 Batmobile and try to grab as much merchandise of it as I can. I just started grabbing stuff recently. I'll post a blog dedicated to my 1966 Batmobiles at some point.

Here it is with a Deluxe Batmobile model kit I bought last year and haven't put it together as of yet. I really need to either hire someone to put it together or attempt it myself. I have some of the Johnny Lighting Batmobile model kits that came out awhile back that I'd love to have put together at some point cause they all would look great on a shelf.

I really lucked out. I never really find anything good when I hit a thrift store and I never thought I'd finally find the Batmobile model kit either. It's nice that I could pick up some vintage/throwback goodies for my collections.
